2021 and 2022

A Happy New Year to all visitors to this blog and a special thank you to those who leave comments about the games we play and shows we visit.  Last year should have been a bumper year for getting figures painted, what with lockdowns no shows (almost) and gaming only really getting going in the summer.  However, events conspired to prevent that happening, although modest progress was made, 224 figures painted (cavalry count as 1 figure).  Even better, the number of figures entering the wargames amateur 'cubby hole' was only 87, the lowest in five years, so the 'stash' has been reduced.

So, what are my targets for this year?  Well, top of the painting 'to do' list must be the last batch of Lissa ships.  The Austrian steam frigates arrived last February and I really must get them finished.  After that, well there are still more Ottoman, Polish and Muscovite troops to paint and a batch of Spanish ships for Black Seas.  If I manage to get all those finished it will be a miracle.

On the show front, I think everything is mostly 'on hold'; Vapnartak is still scheduled to take place in February, but beyond that, who knows?  Bearing in mind the age demographic of wargamers in general, a degree of caution needs to be exercised when contemplating attending large scale indoor events.  Hopefully, the regular face to face games with Steve and Bob will be allowed to continue, as will the less frequent zoom games with David. To end, here a a few photos of this year's games

  3. Happy New Year David... I hope your year is filled with Lissa ships and not 'hardships' (the old ones are the best!). Keep up the good work. Best regards. Phil
